Obituary of Helen June Bartley

Helen June Bartley, 76, of State College, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. Helen was born October 5, 1939, at home in Halfmoon Township, Port Matilda, PA. Shortly after graduating from State College High School, she married her sweetheart, James (Jim) Bartley, on June 14, 1958. They were married for 48 years. While raising five wonderful children, she worked at a Goodwill Outreach Center, taught pre-school head start program, and then worked clerical at Josten’s Yearbook. Her final job for 18 years was cooking in the cafeteria at State College School District. She lived for family and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, card games, music, and dancing. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Jim; parents, Paul and Helen Ghaner, in-laws, Paul and Alice Bartley; brothers, Paul Ghaner, Chester Ghaner, and Albert Ghaner; brothers-in-law, Charles Bartley, Lewis Brooks, and Robert Clevenstein; sisters-in-law, Margaret Ghaner and Mary Brooks. Helen is survived by sons, Lewis and wife Brenda Bartley, Mark and wife Glenda Bartley, James and wife Carol Bartley, and George and wife Karen Bartley; daughter, June and husband Terry Houck; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Ghaner and wife Barb; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ghaner, Sonja Ghaner, Janet Bartley, and Patricia Clevenstein; brother-in-law, Paul and wife Sally Bartley; and sister-in-law, Leah and husband Theodore Ranio. Friends and family will be received from 11AM – 1PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1PM on Wednesday at the funeral home with Spiritual Director Jackie Hook officiating. Interment will be at Zion Union Cemetery, Zion/Bellefonte.
