Obituary of Rosemary R. Balliett

Rosemary Breslin Balliett, of State College, PA, died Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College. Rosemary was born March 24, 1927 in Lansford, PA. She was the daughter of Carl W. and Marguerite McLaughlin Dunkelberger. A graduate of Lansford High School Class of 1945, Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Julia Breslin Furnary (husband Anthony) of Portland, OR; her daughter-in-law, Maureen Breslin of Highland, NY; six grandchildren: Alicia, James, Siobhan and Tristan Furnary, Sister Mary Strength of Martyrs and Matthew Breslin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Alex M. Breslin on November 19, 2004. Nicknamed "The Irish Rose" by her friends and family, she was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, where she was known for her cheerful smile and strong faith. She was a loving, devoted mother who enjoyed reading and was famous for her frequent correspondence with family and friends. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 24 at 10:00am at Saint Augustine Parish, 55 Main Street, Highland, NY with the Reverend Thomas Lutz officiating. Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Marlboro, NY. A church service will be held in State College at a later date. Donations in Rosemary's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, National Brain Tumor Foundation. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
