Obituary of Richard Z. Hindle

Richard Z. Hindle, 82, of State College, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Foxdale Village Anthony House, State College. Born October 20, 1933, in Reading, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Margaret M. Zerbe Hindle. On February 14, 1953 he married Patricia M. Fleming, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Geoffrey S. Hindle of Philadelphia, Richard J. Hindle and his wife, Brenda, of Keymar, MD, Mark R. Hindle of Stephens City, VA and David A. Hindle and his wife, Sharon, of Port Matilda; six grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, Nicole, Shane, Kristina and Roman Hindle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Hindle. He was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School. Richard received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Kutztown State University in 1961 and a Master's degree in Education from Temple University in 1966. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Richard retired in 1995 after 25 years of service from Penn State University as an Associate Professor of Labor Studies. He also served as the Project Director for the AFL-CIO's George Meany Center for Labor Studies from 1978-1980. Richard enjoyed hiking, traveling, and going to the sea shore, especially Stone Harbor, NJ with his family. Memorial services are planning to be held at Foxdale Village and will be announced in the future. Memorial contributions may be made to Foxdale Village, 500 E Marylyn Ave, State College, PA 16801.
