Obituary of Patricia L. Harpster

Patricia L. Harpster, 80, of Pine Grove Mills, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Tyrone Hospital. Born October 27, 1936, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Ethel Kelly Myers. On February 8, 1958 she married James Larry Harpster, who preceded her in death on August 16, 1994. She is survived by three children, William H. Harpster of Midwest City, OK, Dr. Lewis E. Harpster and his wife, Kelly, of Landisville and Brian L. Harpster of Lovettsville, VA; one sister, JoAnn Williams and her husband, Ronald, of Milesburg; Brother in-law, Cecil Hall of Julian; four grandchildren, Audra Harpster of Fairfield, CA, Anna Harpster of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Jamie Nelson of Navarre, FL and Samantha Harpster of Tyrone; six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Boyd and two sisters, Jean and Jane. Patricia was a 1954 graduate of Port Matilda High School where she was also the Class President. She attended Lock Haven University. She was employed as an Administrative Secretary at Corning Glass, retiring in 1986. In her free time, Pat spent a great amount of time with her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, trips to Belleville and arranging flowers at her home in Pine Grove Mills. Patricia was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills since 1958 and arranged the flowers for the church since 1970. She oversaw the Julian Cemetery for thirty years and was a member of the Pine Grove Mills Cemetery Association. Visitation will be from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Paul Tomkiel officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.
