Koch Funeral Home - Funeral Planning Guide

We designed this as a resource for you when preplanning and/or planning a funeral or memorial service.  With the help of experts in various fields, the guide is a compilation of important items to consider.

Some of these items include:

  • Preplanning - Making decisions about your own funeral can help give you and your loved ones peace of mind.
  • Burial Services - We coordinate the process of caring for your loved one from the place of death to the final resting place.
  • Cremation Services - These services can include many of the same or fewer components than a burial service.
  • Cemeteries - You can make your choice based on a number of variables, including whether it is a not-for-profit or for-profit organization.
  • Veteran Services - We facilitate the honors and benefits for which your loved one is eligible.
  • Travel Security Plans - These plans cover arrangements if you or your loved one die when more than 100 miles away from home.
  • Legal Issues - When a death occurs, you must take care of many legal issues and documents.
  • Estate Liquidation - Understanding how to make this process easier is very helpful.

We have also included information about grief resources and our Helping Grieving Hearts Heal  program. This program includes Having the Talk of a Lifetime, grief companioning, memorable funeral ceremony creation, remembrance ceremony facilitation, and community outreach.  As part of this program, we hold monthly grief support gatherings and semiannual grief education and support groups.

Although we will be sorry for the loss that brings you through our doors, it will be our honor to serve you.  Our experience has taught us about the importance of memorialization, and we work with you to create individualized services honoring your unique loved one.  Meaningful services can help you on your grief journey to healing.

As Diarmuid O'Murchu, MSC, a social psychologist and author, said, "...no person or group, no matter how uncaring, will simply dispose of a dead relative devoid of all ritual celebration.  Instinctively, we know that the end of life has meaning and significance and needs to be marked with some sense of public honor."

We are here to help assist you as you honor and hope this guide will support you along the way.

Please let us know how we can help.
