I wasn’t always comfortable with the concept of, “Dare! Silence.” I grew up in a house with five kids and two parents, so silence was not something that happened often. When I began to practice a surrender form of meditation, I grew to appreciate silence more and more. I spend time in silence on a daily basis now and am grateful for the countless gifts it gives me. In the Christian tradition, John of the Cross said, “Silence is God’s first language.” That is how it feels to me.
