I remember in 1980 sitting next to Fran at the State College High School football team banquet. I was a young intern at the State College Presbyterian Church. I was asked to give the prayer. After sitting down Fran said to me....”Good job. You have a nice voice. Maybe you should take my job instead of being a pastor.” He made me feel special. Thank you Fran Fisher.

No matter the occasion, Fran and Charlotte brightened every one with their sunny smiles and infectious enthusiasm. Their spirits remain in the hearts of all their friends and associates. Marlowe especially valued Fran's loyal support in the early days of WPSX.

I just wanted to express my condolences to the family. I am sorry that I did not make the memorial but from one Salem, Ohio person to another I had the pleasure of calling your father when I first arrived at PSU as a university physician in 1992 and laughed about growing up in Salem. My family still lives in Salem and it was wonderful to know that such a prominent man grew up where I did and ended up in State College at Penn State. I wish I had met him in person.

We will always remember the great football bowl trips, basketball socials after games at Nittany Lion Inn and so many other events with your dear parents! Fran and Charlotte were the best! The best for you all, the best for Penn State and the best for our beloved Happy Valley! They are together again, along with some other "characters!" What a blessing! Fran loved life. He was THE most entertaining person in Penn State football and in broadcasting. His intellect and lightning sense of humor came across in his delivery AND personal interactions. He had a super memory for names and faces and made everyone feel special. Surrounded by a large group of friends, his sons can rest assured that he was well respected and loved. We were sorry to hear of Fran's passing. He may be gone, but never ever forgotten.
Best regards, sympathy and condolences to Jeff, Jerry and thier families.
Fondly,
Larry and Helen Johnston (and the rest of the Johnston Clan)

Fran, you were not only the "Voice" of Penn State, but you and Charlotte were the "heart" of Penn State as I knew it. You are now with the love of your life and enjoying a game of golf as you look down at friends and your wonderful family in Happy Valley. What a beautiful life you had and memories that lasted you a lifetime.
Jeff and Jerry, I offer my deepest condolences and hope you turn the pain you feel today into the laughter and sunshine of those beautiful memories.
He will be missed by many and remembered by a multitude of persons he touched along the way....I am happy I was one.

PSU has lost another hero and great man. So sorry for the loss of your Dad Jerry and Jeff. My first thought upon hearing your Dad passed was he was reunited with your Mom When I saw him 2yrs ago at Damon's he still had that famous charm and whit about him. His voice has been silenced but he lives on in our hearts and memories.

Fran was always friendly, always a gentleman. Whenever my husband Terry and I ran into him, at football or basketball events, he greeted us as if we were life long friends, even though he didn't really know us well. I will miss him on the sidelines at Lady Lions basketball games and will always remember how passionate he was about Penn State. My sincere condolences to you on your loss.

Fran was the man. Always upbeat and quick witted, he made my Debbie laugh. He questioned her wisdom on more than one occasion,in choice of partners...since he was available! I will miss his enthusiasm for Penn State sports, people and music. He would be sad today because we lost another great people person in Blues King BB. Enjoy Ellington, Satchmo, Garner and Miles when you sit in the great music hall, Fran. You will be missed, but remembered.
