Obituary
Obituary of Teresa Maureen Ibbs
On Saturday, July 4, 2015, Heaven welcomed another angel, when Teresa “Tess” Maureen Ibbs passed away in the early morning hours at Hershey Medical Center.
She was born on October 17, 1953 in Greenville, to Charles Ibbs and Mary (Costello) Ibbs, who preceded her in death.
Teresa graduated from Kennedy Christian Academy in 1972, and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State. After graduating from Penn State, Teresa spent much of her time volunteering at local agencies, including Interfaith Human Services, Mount Nittany Medical Center, and Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was always thinking about, and helping other people; and all she asked for in return, was a smile. Although she enjoyed helping others, her self-proclaimed “true passion” in life was raising her three beautiful daughters. Among volunteering and raising her children, Teresa also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, cooking and baking.
Teresa is survived by three daughters, Emilee Grupp of Julian, Irene Grupp of Pleasant Gap, and Marcia Grupp of Centre Hall; three sisters, Penelope Scales of Dallas, TX, Mary Studholme of Toronto, ON, and Kate Teller of Flagstaff, AZ; one brother, Timothy Ibbs of Kingsville, TX; one grandson, Aldon Kozak of Julian; and several nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by many dear friends namely, Susan Wallace of Greenville, and Mark Ackley of San Francisco, CA. Teresa courageously battled leukemia during the last year and a half of her life, and she fought hard for her family and friends.
A service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Our Lady of Victory Church in State College. A luncheon at Mountain View Country Club in Boalsburg will follow. Donations may be made in Teresa’s name to either Housing Transitions or Interfaith Human Services, both in State College.
Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences and signing of the guest book may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com.
