Obituary of Richard H. Zimmers
Richard H. Zimmers, 79, of State College, died on Thursday, July 15, 2015, at Greenhills Village, State College.
Born on September 22, 1935, in Tyrone, he was the son of the late J. Herbert and Ora Mae Fisher Zimmers. On June 17, 1961, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in State College, he married Linda Ellis who preceded him in death on July 17, 2010.
He is survived by one daughter, Stacy Moershbacher and her husband, William, of State College; two grandchildren, Lauren and Kyle.
Richard was a 1955 graduate of State College High School.
He retired in 1999, after 40 years of service as a Machinist for ARL.
Richard was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of the Patton Township Lions Club. He received the Melvin Jones Fello award for dedicated Humanitarian services from Lions club international in 2010. He was also a member of the Army Engineer Reserve Unit, in Bellefonte, from 1956 until 1963.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the funeral home with the Chaplain Dave Hersh officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
