Obituary of Ernestine P. Sager

Ernestine P. Sager, 86, of Bellefonte, died Monday, July 27, 2015, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte. Born May 28, 1929 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Goldie M. Beaston Smith. She married Merrill K. Sager, on November 25, 1950, who preceded her in death September 18, 2010. She is survived by two sons, Gary Merrill Sager and Michael Kenneth Sager both of State College. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Hackenberry and her husband, George, of Lewistown, one granddaughter, Lisa Renee Salvato and her husband Brian and three great grandchildren, Carter, Cooper and Lucia Salvato. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Livingworth and Dorothy “Dot” Eward and two brothers Richard “Dick” Smith and Lee Smith. Ernestine was a 1947 graduate of Lewistown Area High School. She was employed at the Arrow Shirt Factory in Lewistown following high school. Later Ernestine worked part time at Danks & Company. Subsequently she was a dedicated stay at home mom taking care of her sons and granddaughter Lisa Renee Salvato whom she enjoyed babysitting. She cherished every moment going to Lewistown to visit family and friends which she did frequently. Ernestine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Ann Graves officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
