I was so sorry to read that Helen passed away. I read about her passing in the ASHA magazine. I worked with Helen at Centre Community Hospital for 4 years. I learned so much from her. She was so knowledgeable, kind and caring with our patients. I still think about her when I do therapy with my patients and try to incorporate what I learned from her. She made a significance difference for so many people in her lifetime, including the patients she worked with and the speech pathologists that she mentored.

She and I worked together for many years at various facilities through out State College and Centre Co. I kept up with her life through Facebook. Blessings to you and your family. Please accept my sympathy on the passing of Helen. We were almost the same age, and I'm sorry I never got to know her well when my family lived in State College. May you have many happy and inspiring memories that you will cherish over the years, despite the sadness of your loss.

Helen was a wonderful person who helped not only me and other people with speech difficulties, but trained many speech pathologists to help people like me. I'm sad but like to think she is in a wonderful place without pain or sorrow.

We light this candle in memory of Helen, whose loving spirit was the deciding factor in my choosing to become the DLRE at UUFCC in 2005. When I came to be interviewed, Helen gave me a ride from the Fellowship and during our conversation in the car, I learned that she truly cared about the future of the religious education program at UUFCC, and that she would be very supportive of me. I decided then and there to take the position. Thank you Helen for all that you did for me while I was there. You will be missed a great deal. Namaste!

I'm so sorry to learn about Helen. I played alto sax with her in the UUFCC Band for some time.
Also, she got me involved with the nominating committee, saying that it really didn't take up much time, which it didn't, but it helped me see how the UUFCC worked, and eventually led to my being President 3 years ago. That was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had, for which Helen can be thanked. Perhaps she saw in me something I was not aware of (leadership potential?) and nudged me in that direction, o so discreetly.
Though I didn't know her well, she was both a mentor and a pal, with humor not far under the surface. I bumped into her at Weis supermarket about a month ago, and it was such a joy to see her out and about!
I'm saddened to lose her as a fellow UUFCC member and friend.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Carl, who also played in the band, and to her family.
