Obituary of Brian Mark Devaney
Brian Mark Devaney, 49, of Bellefonte, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at his home.
Born August 13, 1966, in Rochester, NY, he was the son of Mark Joseph and Judith Ann Boschetti Devaney. On October 25, 1997, he married Diane DeVerter, who survives.
In addition to his parents of Summerville, FL and his wife, he is survived by one son, Anthony K. “Tony” Devaney of Bellefonte; two sisters, Susan Devaney Geyer and her husband, Lawrence, of Pittsburgh and Linda Devaney Statt and her husband, Jeffrey, of Vancouver, WA; one niece and four nephews.
Brian was a 1985 graduate of Aquinas Institute in Rochester, NY and a received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY in 1989.
He was employed as a Computer Programmer for Optical Image Technology for 16 years in State College.
Brian was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte.
He earned his 3rd Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2002. Brian was a history and science fiction buff, he enjoyed reading and playing board games and cards. He was passionate about scuba diving, wood working and archery. Brian especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Chip.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m., on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
Funeral service will be at 9 a.m., on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, with Father George I. Jakopac officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Abramson Cancer Center Melanoma Clinic, Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine Penn Medicine Development, 3400 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, Pa 19104.
