Obituary of Laveral Louise Mase Beck

Laveral Louise Mase Beck, 92, of State College, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College, with her family by her side. Born April 24, 1923 in Liberty, PA, she was the daughter of the late John R. Mase and Edith Mary Messner Mase. On June 29, 1943 she married Lt. Col. J. Webster Beck, who died September 7th, 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Stabb of Lancaster, two grandchildren, Charles William Wenrick and Suzanne Elizabeth Crawford, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by a daughter, Julie J. Wenrick, and a brother, Lyle Mase. Laveral graduated from the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing and was employed as a Registered Nurse. A devoted military wife and mother, she always made a home wherever stationed. She was a brownie and Girl Scout leader. Laveral was a wonderful cook and pie maker, and won prizes for her sugar cookies at state fairs in New Mexico. As a Registered Nurse, Laveral worked where her husband was transferred. She was a labor and delivery nurse in Dyersburg, TN and San Antonio, TX. Upon her husband’s retirement from the military, Laveral worked as an RN at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Laveral was a member of the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church in State College. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church with a funeral service following at the church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Edward Preston and Rev. Carl Hill Officiating. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery in Liberty.
