Obituary of Robert W. Knouse

Robert W. Knouse, 92, of State College, formerly of Lewistown, died Friday, October 16, 2015, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte. Born August 14, 1923, in Port Royal, he was the son of the late William and Grace Rodgers Knouse. On June 13, 1959, he married Betty Hoy, who survives. Also surviving are six children, Carolyn Hopkins, of Yorkville, IL, George Baney and his wife, Gloria, of Bellefonte, Christine Minnigh of Altoona, Apryl Caldwell and her husband, Steve, of Altoona, Rita Flick and her partner Dan Northamer, of Port Matilda and Alice Goldenberg and her husband, Gary, of Phillipsburg, NJ; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Daraclea of Harrisburg. Robert was a graduate of Lewistown High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Electrical Engineering in 1948. He served in the US Army from 1942-1946. He retired in 1982 from the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State University as an Electrical Engineer. Robert attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, word search puzzles and classical music. A visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 250 E. College Ave, State College. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., at the church, with the Reverend Eric Shafer officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Robert may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
