Dear Bob and Families,
Although we knew Jim's passing would be imminent and immediate we are saddened learn of it. The last line of his obituary says it well "He was a good man" I will never forget Jim.

Seventy years was not enough for the world to have this lovely man. Jim stands out in my memories of past State College days with his ready smile and positive spirit.

Dear Jim Ascah Family Members:
My Deepest Sympathies at this late condolences on the passing of your Husband, Father, Grandfather, or Friend Jim Ascah. I apologize for not getting this message to you earlier. I was just checking after 5 years on my friends that I grew up with in State College, PA. Jim, Dave Bratzler and I grew up together and went through State College Elementary, Junior High and Sr. High School Together.
We lived in the same neighborhood and walked together to elementary and Junior High tigether. I remember when we all got Davy Crockett Coonskin Hats together and wore them proudly to Elementary school when Davy Crockett was so popular. I remember roller skating to elementary school together when skates hooked to shoes was popular. I remember playing pickup basketball in front of Dave Bratzler’s family garage between Dave’s home and Jim’s on Westerly Parkway, just 2 blocks from my home at the corner of Atherton and Allen Streets.
I was a crippled child, but Jim and Dave involved me in everything they could from pickup baseball games to playground football. Jim and Dave went on to play baseball and basketball together through high school as I watched from the stands. Jim and Dave and I graduated from State High Together in 1963. We all went on to College in different directions, but would run in to each other in State College on vacations at times. Jim’s Father And Mother were wonderful to us boys, as were Dave’s and my parents as well. I thank Jim for his Naval Service, and remember how great he looked in his Pilots Uniform for USAir...!
I remember Jim and Dave as the greatest boy hood friends a boy could have, especially me in my crippled body. I thank the Good Lord for Jim and Dave, and am sure Jim stayed true to his demeanor as an honorable man, husband, father and grandfather with his family. May God Bless You and your family in his passing.
Sincerely,
George Colwell

To the family of Jim,
I knew Jim from many years of softball and flying out of University Park. He was always a joy to be around. Even though many months passed between our paths crossing, it was like we had just seen each other a couple of days ago when I was fortunate enough to see him. May God bless with his peace during this difficult time.

So long to an officer and a gentleman. We knew Jim from State College High School, sports, my brother's friend, and in the most recent years at Meyer Dairy. Just a nice guy.

May everything he meant to you and all the ways in which your lives wouldn't be the same without him, comfort you now.
My first memory of Jim is when he and I got in an argument and he threw my pegboard toy out of the 3rd storey window of my bedroom in NYC. We were about 4 then. Fast forward to our riding in a car in Richmond when we were 16 or 17 singing along with Dion to "Runaraound Sue". And then in the livingroom at Popple Beach for our uncle Clarence's funeral--we were telling jokes as an antedote. In recent years he and I took turns calling each other on New Year's Day to exchange family doings. I always looked forward to our talks. The last time we spoke was on his birthday this year. He was still upbeat, after all he was going through.
I loved him, and will miss him very much.
