I never met Rick but I am a member of Intellenet and saw the announcement. He accomplished so much during his time on this earth.

I worked under Mr Payton 1986 through 1989 Helping him with some investigations and also security duties of his Penn State Area and his buildings that he had accounts with.
Rick was a fine man and he really took care of his employees. When I was sick during the time I was working with him he even came and visited my house where I lived to see how I was doing to make sure l was okay and recovering, promising me he'd let me still have my position open for me. He treated me very well as a veteran and I appreciate him a lot and will always remember what he did for me.
He gave me a chance working for him when other places
of employment didn't even consider me. Nobody would
by far give me the opportunity like Mr Payton did.
I salute to you, Sir. Thank You for your service.

We played softball for many years and had some wonderful times. I will remember Rick with his great sense of humor and the sharing of good friends. I am so glad that I ran into him not too long ago and recalled some memories. I will miss his laugh.

I met Rick in the late 90's. We generally stopped to chat in places around town when we would run into each other. I really admired Rick for his many accomplishments and for obviously being a very warm and real human being. Another light has gone out with his passing. My deepest condolences go to the family and friends whom he loved, but we all know we were blessed by his making the world a better place. I am very saddened by his passing.

Dear Laurelyn and Mary...Barbara and I extend our deepest condolences. Ricky was a classmate, a teammate (football, basketball & track), and most of all a dear friend. Our paths would cross several times a year whenever I was in State College...in fact the last time was at a football game last year. It's my loss that I didn't keep in closer contact. We can take comfort in the tremendous legacy Rick has left. Most of all, we can take comfort in the knowledge that Rick has not died...he is not gone...he has merely passed on to accept his next assignment.
