Obituary of Karen J. Meyers

Karen J. Meyers, 77, of State College, died Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born January 20, 1938, in Wellsboro, Karen was the daughter of the late Guy A. and Ruth F. Gitchel Ludington. On February 18, 1958 in Vallejo, CA she married Donald E. Meyers, who preceded her in death on October 30, 2000. Karen is survived by two children, Grant W. Meyers and his wife, Maggie, of State College, and Dawn "D.J." Conley and husband, Tim, of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Houtz and her husband, Bud, of State College, and Peggy Kohnke and her husband, Bill, of Montrose In addition to her husband, and parents, Karen was preceded in death by sister, Patricia "Pat" Ludington on December 31, 2001 and her son, Mark P. Meyers on August 17, 2006. Mark's wife, Maria Meyers, currently lives in Warrensburg, MO. Karen graduated from State College High School in 1955. She worked for Penn State University as a secretary in the Navy ROTC Detachment. She enjoyed playing BINGO, going to the casino, and taking care of her beloved cat Buster. Memorial service and burial will be at Boalsburg Cemetery, Boalsburg at a later date. Memorial contributions may be set to Timothy Conley, 102 Cougar Lane, Claridge, PA 15623 to help offset expenses.
