Richard and I send our sincere sympathy in your loss of Don. Don was a classmate of ours throughout our years of High School. I actually went through all of the grades from Grade School until the end of our High School years. Don, was a very nice person and we shall always remember him for his kind spirit and and wit. It is always sad to lose a person that you've shared all of your school days with. Somehow it is a little comforting to know that he is no longer suffering. Always treasure your memories. May God Bless you during this time of loss.

Ronda,
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Don. He was a very likeable person, and it was always nice to spend time with him at WVU. I always wondered what happened to him. The creation of the scholarship funds speaks very highly of Don, and his caring qualities.
I took early retirement 10/31/14 and moved back to Thomas.

I have good memories of Don as growing up our families often visited. Also, we attended Potomac State together and played cards often. We haven't been in touch for several years. I was not aware he was sick.

I remember Don for his sense of humor and from the year he came out for football. I never saw anyone work so hard while being in such pain from bumps, bruises, charley horses in both legs, etc. He gave it everything he had. I truly admired him.

Rhonda and Family,
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. It's been years since I saw Don, but he was a very sweet and caring person. Now retired and living back in Parsons, the PHS class of 67 is starting to plan our 50th reunion and he will be missed, but never forgot.

For seven years Don was a friend and the most wonderful PSU women's sports fan I've ever met. We were on the same booster club boards; he showed up at every game with a smile on his face and when I worked in Guest Relations at BJC he always stopped by to say hello. Somehow, it won't be the same without his presence. I used to offer to put the K's up in Rec Hall for Lady Lions' Volleyball, and one day he stood up in the stands and swung his arms "wildly" over his head and all the fans did the same. I had no idea why, then he yelled, "It's upside down!" We all laughed and laughed for weeks following that game.
I'll miss looking for Don in the stands when PSU women's sports are on TV here in Husky territory where I now live in CT.
Rest in peace,
Judith Stevens

I knew Don from his involvement with many Penn. State women's sports programs. In recent years, he had endowed a scholarship which I believe rotates its annual support to a different athlete on each of the women's teams. He took great pride in not just supporting these programs with his resources and attendance, but in contributing his time in the sales efforts of athletics apparel on behalf of many booster clubs. An unsung hero to many of us who knew Don, there was nothing flashy about this kind individual. Genuine. Warm-hearted. And, a man who didn't have to continually be in the spotlight to know (internally and to those around him) that he made a positive contribution along the way. This old country boy will be missed by those of us who knew him. Rest in peace, Don.
