Obituary of Joseph L. Rachael

Joseph L. Rachael, 89, of State College, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born May 23, 1926, in Dunlo, he was the son of the late Stephen R. and Mary Cingel Rachael. On June 14, 1964, in Winchester, VA, he married Kathy Runyen, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Jeffrey L. and his wife, Paula, of State College, Jon S. and his wife, Michele, of Boise, ID, Jerel R. of Glen Rock, Kimberly A. of Brookhaven and Kristi M. Reichard and her husband, Jason of York Springs; one sister, Margaret M. Rachael of Dunlo; seven grandchildren, Bailey, Jordan, Shane, Braden, Kyler, Owen and Weston; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings, Michael, John, Adam, Peter, Nicholas, Stephen, George, Ann, Mary Cooper and Helen Regan. He was a 1944 graduate of Adams Township High School. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Georgia and attended Dickinson Law School. Joseph served in the United States Navy during WWII and the Army Reserve during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as an Investigator for the Federal Government. Joseph attended the Black Oak United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Dunlo American Legion. Joseph enjoyed gardening and was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home, with the Pastor Sam Reese officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National M. S.
