Obituary of Ellen Bailey
Ellen D. Bailey, 57, of State College passed away early Monday afternoon at her home.
She was born Mary Ellen Dickey at Elmira, New York on October 13, 1953, the daughter of Edith Lucy Dickey Plummer of Boalsburg, and the late Clyde Dickey. She married her husband, Lorin C Bailey, on April 7, 1987. Ellen graduated from State College High School in 1971. She attended Penn State as a Music major. Ellen loved to play the piano and the guitar and often played at family holiday gatherings.
Ellen enjoyed the outdoors, especially canoeing, camping and hiking. She volunteered her time to help with local canoe and kayak races. Ellen also enjoyed biking. She was an avid gardener. Knitting and crocheting were other activities she enjoyed.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Ellen was an organ donor.
Along with her father, she was predeceased by her sister Eileen and grandparents Joseph and Laoma Dickey and Cleveland and Murtis Lucy.
In addition to her husband and her mother, Ellen is survived by her sister Beth Dickey of La Plata, Md.; brother -in-law Edward Ruete of East Lyme, Conn; step-sister Norma (Doug) Panasiti of Deland, Fla; sister-in- law Lisa (Kenneth) Johnson of Pittsburgh; step-brother Jim (Marty) Plummer, Ruckersville, Va.; brother in law Craig (Wanda) Bailey of Pittsburgh; nephews Michael Ruete of Waltham, Mass. And David (Chin One) Ruete of Redland, Wash.; Clay Johnson of Pittsburgh; David Bailey of Washington, Pa.; and a niece Kendal Johnson of Pittsburgh.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday May 27, 2011 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Watts Cemetery, Clearfield.
