Encounters at the Village involved a few words mostly, but eye contact conveyed warm feelings. Carol and my Elsie were only a few months apart in age, they were home economists, were of rural origins although 1500 miles apart, and they were active in the same Circle group at Grace Lutheran Church. John and I bowled in the same league, first in the Dux Club downtown State College and then at Rec Hall on campus. On occasion the girls were there too. It has been a good life among good people as our era winds down.
