Obituary of Max Matsui

Max Matsui , 18, of Ferguson Township died Wednesday evening, June 1st , at his home. He was born in Forest Hills, Union County, the son of Susan Schwab Matsui and Masaya Matsui, who survive. Also surviving are two sisters, Miya and Mei Matsui. He was the grandson of Takao and Toshiko Matsui, of Shimi, Japan and the late Frank and Jane Bossert Schwab of Pine Grove Mills. Max was a senior at State College Area High School. He enjoyed the outdoors, Xbox, paint ball team activities with friends, swimming - especially creek swimming, and participated in the SCASD fitness center weight lifting program. He was a member of the State College Area YMCA and achieved a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He participated in classes at Nittany Gymnastics Academy and achieved the highest skill level, Platinum. He was also very musically inclined and interested in aviation and military history. He was employed part-time by Penn State University at Pollock Dining Commons. He was a loyal friend and a hard worker. He was determined and dedicated in all aspects of his life. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, on Sunday, June 5th. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6th at 11:00 A.M. at the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carl D. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Special Olympics, P.O. Box 10465 State College, PA 16805-0456.
