Obituary of Jack A. Weaver
Jack A. Weaver, 94, of State College, died at Mount Nittany Medical Center on May 5, 2016. He was born in Wilkes Barre, on September 20, 1921, the son of J. Fred and Elizabeth A. Weaver. The family moved to Milesburg in 1925, and he graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1939. He attended Penn State for one and a half years, then enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, from 1941-1945, during WWII as a Signal Corps Staff Sergeant. He worked for Western Electric and AT&T for thirty six years.
In 1950, he married Valerie J. Dullen who survives at home. Also surviving are five daughters: Patricia Hassinger and her husband Jim of Wexford, PA; Margaret Weaver and her husband David Engelking of Minneapolis, MN; Barbara Weaver of Boalsburg; Jane Weaver and her husband Lee Showers of Millheim; and Jacqueline Weaver Foy of North Branch, MN. Also surviving are three grandsons: Anthony, Jacob and Sean Foy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James F. Weaver; and sister, Alice W. Mattern.
He loved the Grange Fair and looked forward to tenting, socializing, and especially eating there every year. He enjoyed bowling in the senior league. He loved people and made friends everywhere he went, always ready with a good joke or funny story.
He was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St, State College. The funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St, State College, with Rev. Dean Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the State College Food Bank, 1321 South Atherton St., State College, PA 16801.
