Obituary of S. Isabelle Thomas

S. Isabelle Thomas, 96, of Lewistown, formerly of Mt. Rock Commons in Lewistown, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at Lewistown Hospital. Born February 27, 1920, in Snow Shoe, she was the daughter of the late Leslie E. Meckley, Sr. and Myrtle L. Witherite Meckley. Isabelle is survived by two children, Alfred L. Walker and his wife, Anna, of Clermont, Fl, and Betty Lou Weyant of Lewistown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth C. Meckley and his wife, Barbara, of State College. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, CPT John B. Walker, Jr. on November 15, 1981; sisters, Geraldine Bohn and her husband, Wert, and Nellie Eckenroth and her husband, Ross; brothers, Leslie “George” Meckley, Jr. and Thomas Meckley, who both died while serving in the U.S. military; infant brother; and son-in-law, Robert Weyant in 2007. Isabelle worked as a retail sales clerk and later as a nursing aid for a private home nursing agency. She was Lutheran by faith. Isabelle loved cooking for her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with Rev. John Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery, Boalsburg. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
