I never worked directly with Tom, but as fellow instructor I would run into him occasionally and stop to chat with him. I had hoped that he would continue with the cancer in a state of holding, as he had already lived so many years with it. I would ask Tom how he was doing when I saw him, as my father also had lived for a long time with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but was in remission after treatment when he was killed in an accident. I could only imagine what his life was like to keep on working when he had to balance doing so with the toll that his physical condition exerted on him; he was so brave. I am very saddened by his passing, I know how much he loved life, and loved his family. If there is anything that I can do to be of any assistance to the family, please let me know.
