I was fortunate enough to get to know Jim when he was a geospatial leader at PA. Jim was not only the consummate gentleman, he was the consummate partner. Everyone at our company loved Jim. He impacted all our lives.

I was privileged to known Jim professionally, since the early days of GIS in Pennsylvania. His dedication to excellence in GIS has manifested itself throughout the Commonwealth in many successful initiatives at all levels of government. His vision was often ‘ahead of the curve’ and it occasionally took time for others to catch up. And while I will not forget Jim’s passion for and contributions to GIS, I will also remember that he greeted everyone with a smile and knew their names regardless of how short the initial encounter had been. It was sometimes hard to find out what new projects Jim had; because he usually asked what others were doing before anyone could ask him the same. He was a good man, he will be missed.

Dear Kim and Family,
As I traveled across PA and other states with Jim, we always admired the beauty and enjoyed the craziness within. There's a place we've never seen, beyond this world we know. A place we only heard of, but some day hoped to go. It's not on any map...there are no roads or GPS to take us there. But it's a place of perfect peace where hearts are free from care. May you find peace in the thought that your loved one is in a better place. Thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Dearest Kim,
I was saddened to learn of Jim's passing and our hearts go out to you, and all your families! The words in Jim's obituary describing his zeal for life as well as being the ultimate gentleman are exactly as I think of him. His bravery in the face of obstacles beyond his control is exemplary indeed. Sending you blessings of comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Love,
Brent and Steven
