Obituary of Mary Ishler

Mary Jane Ishler, 96, of State College, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Mount Nittany Medical Center , State College. Born January 30, 1915, in Alpha, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary M. Fojter Dulak. On April 1, 1940 she married Dr. H. Richard Ishler, who preceded her in death on September 17, 2004. She is survived by two children, H. Richard Ishler Jr. and his wife, Ginny MacColl, of Mt. Airy, MD, Barbara Ishler and her husband, Bill, of Acton, MA, three grandchildren; Michael J. Ishler, David A. and Ted S. Janowsky, and six great-grandchildren; Kyle and Courtney Ishler, Jack and Grace Janowsky and Toby and Riley Janowsky. Mary Jane was a 1932 graduate of Alpha High School. She then graduated in 1936 from the Abington School of Nursing in Philadelphia as a Registered Nurse. She was the business manager of her husband's medical practice and prior to that she was the Registered Nurse Supervisor at the Abington Memorial Hospital from 1936-1939. She attended the Faith United Church of Christ. She also was a volunteer with Mount Nittany Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and the American Red Cross. Mary Jane supported many charitable organizations. Visitation will be 10-11:30 A.M., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Diane L. Prosser officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Nittany Medical Center at 1800 East Park Avenue State College, PA 16803.
