Obituary of Dorothy Mullen
Dorothy "Dottie" Mullen, 86, of Boalsburg, died August 15, 2016 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born October 26, 1929 in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Ada Cornwell Golden.
She is survived by her three children, John W. Mullen, V. Diane Collins (TJ), and Jane E. Hopkins (John), seven grandchildren, Thomas F. Collins (Michelle), Tamara M. Billotte (Adam), Elizabeth D. Collins, Phillip W. Collins, Erik J. Lindstrom, John D. Hopkins Jr, and Ian P. Hopkins, and one great granddaughter Madeleine Collins.
Dottie was employed with Penn State's Housing and Food Services as an accounting clerk from August 19, 1968 until her retirement May 31, 2007.
She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Boalsburg. She was a volunteer with Alpha Fire Company Community Ambulance Club, making her 250th ambulance call in August 1986. In 1989 she was awarded Technician of the Year and in 1994 was awarded a lifetime membership. She also was a CPR and EMT instructor as well as serving as secretary and trustee. She was a Mt. Nittany Medical Center volunteer with over five thousand hours of service over fifty years. She represented all hospital volunteers at the 2015 Centre County Council for Human Services Awards dinner. She also was a volunteer at OLLI from 2008 to 2016. She enjoyed gardening and was an active participant with Silver Sneakers.
In respecting her wishes, there will be no service.
