Obituary of Helen Jackson Smith

Helen Jackson Smith, 82, of State College, passed away September 2, 2016. Helen was born in State College on March 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Paul and Blanche Jackson. She retired from Penn State where she worked as Chief Operator in the Office of Telecommunications. She enjoyed camping, garage sales, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by her husband, Charles R. Smith; four children, Cathy Tennis and her husband, John; Margie Waltz and her husband, Richard; Sharon Daugherty; and Chuck Smith and Sue Templeton; grandchildren, Christina Campbell and her husband T.J., Mathew Waltz, James Bartley, Eric Waltz, C.W. Smith, Krystal Smith, Victoria Foltz and her husband, Nathan, and Lee Daugherty; great-grandchildren, Dominic Thompson, Ty Campbell, Austin Waltz, Taylor Waltz; brother, Jackson Harshberger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Waite. Visitation will be 10am until 1p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral service will follow at 1:15p.m., Monday, at the funeral home with Rev. Brent Book officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
