Dear Al and family,
Although I know he is in a better place, I was sad to hear of your dad’s passing. As I told you at the reunion in August, I saw your dad a few years back and got a personal tour of the Boalsburg Heritage Museum. He knew the origin of each piece. I remember some pieces came from Pam Keene’s grandfather. It was very interesting getting a Boalsburg history lesson. He also gave me some advice on “relocating” unwanted groundhogs.
When my colleagues sent a donation to the Brotherhood class in memory of my dad, your dad sent a really nice thank you note. I remember he finished by simply saying, “I will miss him.” It still makes me cry when I think of it. I like to think they are both up there, gathering tools for the next Habitat for Humanity undertaking and planning the next annual Brotherhood Corn Boil.
My heartfelt condolences.

Dr. Kesler was an excellent teacher, and outstanding mentor, a dedicated faculty colleague and a caring and giving friend.

Wilna and Family,
I am sorry for your loss of Earl. He certainly gave so much to the museum and he will be remembered in Boalsburg for that.

To say Dr. Kesler was a great man is an insult; that adjective was beneath him although he would never claim it. I'll always remember the "look" he gave us when Alan was into some hair brained idea; it was as classic as they come. His calm demeanor and train of thought has always been something I've tried to emulate but never succeeded; I guess it's something meant for a very few "chosen" people. Alan always had the same pensiveness but averse to his Dad, he always seemed to go headlong into everything he did; which is also what makes him so special. Dr. Kesler put up with us past the point that most parents would scream; it made me a better person in seeing his "way". I never, ever forgot his devoting weekend time to take Alan and I hunting when we were kids; it's something you never forget. I am terribly humbled in finding out that Earl is one of our last WWII vets; and embarrassed to find out just now of his distinguished service; I never knew but hey, that was Dr. Kesler right? The world just took at step backwards in losing a man of his character and accomplishment. God speed sir.

I am so very saddened that Uncle Earl is gone. I can't stop thinking about what a kind and decent man he was. I admired him for his service to our nation, for his dedication to his profession, and his great love for his family. I miss him dearly.
