Obituary of L. June Sturniolo

Lois June Sturniolo, 76, of State College, died Saturday, October 8, 2016, at her residence with her three children at her bedside. Born July 29, 1940 in Dubois, she was the daughter of Plum Dunlap and Annabelle Pierce. She married John C. Sturniolo, on June 2, 1962. She is survived by three children, Jeffrey J. Sturniolo and his wife, Molly, of Warriors Mark, Maria Anderson and her husband Ken, of Raleigh, NC, and Carmen Sturniolo and his wife Rebecca of Washington, DC; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Sturniolo, Tyler and Morgan Thompson, Matt, Ryan, Hanna, and Kyle Anderson, and Louisa Sturniolo. June is also survived by her siblings, Willard Dunlap and his wife Ruth of Dubois, Jean Bowersox of Richmond, VA, Grace Weber of Rockton, and Etha Benner of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Bob and Pat Dunlap and sisters Adelene DiPillo and Dorthelene Snedden. June was a 1958 graduate of Sandy High School in Dubois, PA. In 1961, she graduated from the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. After her nursing career she went on to work and retire from the admissions office at Penn State University. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed watching Penn State football and basketball, the Steelers, and professional golf. She was loved and cared for by her many neighbors and friends. She was a devoted grandmother of nine, ages 6 months to 27 years old, whom she showered with unconditional love, warm hugs, and optimism. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory with Father Dady officiating. A luncheon will follow in the social hall.
