Obituary
Obituary of George Norman Shaffer
George Norman Shaffer, 61, of Bellefonte, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at his home surrounded by his friends and extended family.
Born October 18, 1955, in Altoona, the son of James Dean and the late Virginia Mae Keller Shaffer.
In addition to his father, he is survived by six siblings, Carol K. Shaffer, Linda V. Shaffer and Wanda J. Shaffer all of Alexandria, VA, James A. Shaffer and his wife, Lori, of Parker CO, Paul N., Shaffer and his wife, Elizabeth, of Manheim, PA and Marjorie A. Brackbill and her husband, Forrest, of Mechanicsburg, PA; seven nieces and nephews; and three great nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, his sister, Mary M. Karpowich, and brother-in-law, Stuart M. Spencer.
George's goal for each day was to be outside, regardless of the weather. He especially loved when family and friends took walks with him. He was never without music, whether he was outdoors or in his room surrounded by scenes of the beach. Country music and the adorable Carrie Underwood were at the top of his favorites list. He took joy in going to baseball games, concerts, and movies. He was pleased having chocolate milk and pudding, no matter what else was set for a meal. George smiled brighter than the sun at the mention of a trip to the Bellefonte Wok. He touched the life of each person he met, by simply being himself and living each day to its fullest.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m., on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.
