What a guy!
Joe drove to Altoona many Sunday mornings, in all kinds of weather, to serve our congregation.
He served as a substitute as often as he was available at First Presbyterian Church, and then took us on weekly during a period preceding and following our merger with other Altoona Presbyterians, which finally became Providence Presbyterian.
The church was always filled when it was known that he would be preaching.
When our church brought the service to the Presbyterian Village, it was the first and maybe the last time none of the residents fell asleep during the sermon.
Aside from his gifts as a speaker, Joe was a warm, kind and sincere individual.
He will be fondly remembered by me and many others in Altoona.
God Bless you all with His Peace, as you deal with this loss.
Sincerely,
Judy Hartzell
Providence Presbyterian Church

Our hearts go out to you. Your father was a delight in so many ways. We are blessed to have known him, and we were extremely honored when he agreed to officiate our wedding. His melodious voice was warm and distinctive, and his gift for story telling was truly captivating. We have missed seeing him pass by our house and on his daily walks around the golf course, as he did for so many years, never hesitating to stop and say hello and chat for a few minutes before he was off and on his way again. Please know that you are in our thoughts as you, and we all, cherish his fond memory.

Our deepest sympathy over the loss of your Father, Joseph, less than two years after the loss of your mother. Joe's ministry was greatly appreciated by the people of the Providence Presbyterian Church in Altoona and he was a blessing to many other churchers in the Huntingdon Presbytery serving as a pulpit supply pastor.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. It was such an honor to have met your Dad, he was a true joy to be around. I love that in all his years in Pennsylvania he never lost that endearing Georgia accent. Much love to you all.

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Joe lived down the hall from me at Ann's Choice. Even though I have only known him for a short period of time he was a wonderful neighbor and friend. We chatted many times about Penn State and Centre County as my husband was born and raised in Philipsburg and a Penn State graduate. I know he is in a better place and happy to be with his wife once again. So great to have known him.

I knew Joe from conversations we had over the years during chance meetings in the Rec Hall faculty locker room (His obituary failed to mention Joe's athletic prowess). I knew of Joe's work in founding CVIM, which will stand as a major testament to his commitment to the less fortunate. Joe will be missed by many, but he left a legacy of memories that I hope will be of some condolence to his loved ones.

Please accept my most sincere condolences and prayers. Something I've kept, "Grief never ends...But it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith...It is the price of love." -Unknown

Dear Family,
Ruth and I had the honor of being married by Reverend Faulkner almost 25 years ago. What a blessing it has been to have known him continuously over the years. When he served our Presbyterian Church in Lewistown during pastoral vacations, he never failed to seek us out and extend his warm greeting to us. His sermons were always uplifting and his love for Jesus came through loud and clear. His amazing sense of humor added so much to his messages. If we knew he was preaching on a particular Sunday morning, we were always in attendance. We considered him a dear friend. He was an amazing gentleman and will be very much missed. Please accept our sincere expression of sympathy.
Kind regards,
Ken and Ruth Fisher
