Marty will be missed. She was the person who hired me to come to the Dept. of Physical Education in 1966...so many changes since then, many of which Marty initiated or participated in. She remained a much admired woman, locally and nationally, who certainly at least cracked the glass ceiling. She was a leader and a mentor to many just starting their careers. My condolences to her remaining family members.

I have many great memories of Marty, first when I was a student-athelete in the 70's and then over the years as she continued to be a huge advocate for women in sports. She will be missed by many but not forgotten. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Marty was a special friend from First Lido, Sarasota Florida. She and Della contributed so much to make life at First Lido fun and interesting. We had great conversations around the pool and sunsets. She also treated us to lunch every year at the Dry Dock where she became a legend. She was an amazing woman and we had the privilege to know her. We offer our deepest sympathy. Ginny and Chuck

I am saddened to learn that you are mourning the loss of your dear loved one. However, it saddens our God even more. No doubt, you have many fond memories which will resurface from time to time. Because you do have memories, it certainly shows that Almighty God has memories as well. Therefore, with full confidence you can take comfort in knowing that he longs to restore perfect life to all those in his memory (Job 14:13-15; Rev 21:3,4). Please accept my condolences at this most distressing time.

Mary was a wonderful person, always thoughtful of others and ready with a word of support. Her leadership at Penn State and nationally was done in such an understated manner that she never received the honors to the extent she warranted. I, like so many others, can honestly say, "Marty, thanks to you, I think I have been a better person."
