Obituary of Gerald Benjamin Haupt

Gerald Benjamin Haupt, 87, of State College, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at McKinley Heath Center, Brookville. Born October 16, 1929, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Clarence Benjamin and Edna Ream Haupt. On December 20, 1950, he married Hilda Bohn, who preceded him in death on December 30, 2011. He is survived by a daughter, Jody M. Kiehl and her husband, David, of Marienville; a sister, Nancy Evans and her husband, Charles, of The Villages, FL; five grandchildren, Cristin Sayers and her husband, Jason, of Wattsburg, Stacy Hastings and her husband, Keith, of Vownickel, Ryan Kiehl and his wife, Katie, of Clarion, Star LaFredo and husband, Rich, of Waterford, CT, and Skye Hoehn and husband, Matt, Danville; ten great-grandchildren, Allyson and Jackson Sayers of Wattsburg, Abigail, Ethan and Emma Hastings of Vowinckel, Kason, Kenley, Kyla and Korie Kiehl of Clarion, and Grey Regan LaFredo of Waterford, CT. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Regan Haupt in 2008. Gerald was a 1947 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He was a contractor and builder with his father, Clarence "Ben" Haupt & Son. Gerald retired as an Inspector for Chemcut Corporation in State College. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Boalsburg cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
