Obituary of Jessica Lynn Fisher
Jessica Lynn Fisher Jessica Lynn Fisher, 22, passed away on January 25, 2017, after a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer. She graduated from State College Area High School in 2012, and received the Principal's Award for an unblemished academic performance over the course of four years. During her time in State College, she was a ballet dancer with the Arts Conservatory and performed lead roles in the Nutcracker at the Performing Arts Center at Penn State. She went on to Brown University where she graduated in 2016, with honors as a Sigma Xi scholar, and as the recipient of the Sarah Amendola Award for Outstanding Research in Geological and Environmental Sciences. At Brown, she was an integral member of the Fusion Dance Company, serving as Artistic Director and soloist during her senior year. After graduating, she worked as an intern in the Paleontology Museum of the Smithsonian Institute. She loved the study of fossils, and was a vegetarian driven by concerns for the environment and the development of a sustainable society. Jess saw each day as an opportunity, and she lived every moment with a spirit and passion that inspired all around her. She is survived by her grandparents, Robert and Susan Fisher, her parents, Donald and Mary Ellen Fisher, her sister, Elizabeth Fisher, and her fiance, Lars Berg.
