Obituary of Olga T. Gray

Olga Dorthy Tursky Gray from State College passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Foxdale Village. Olga is a daughter of of the late Mary Parrish Tursky and Joseph Tursky and was born on June 17, 1917 in Hazleton Pa. She had a much beloved older sister Dr. Rosemarie Tursky Morrison (deceased). She graduated from Hazleton Highshool and from West Chester in 1938 where she met and married the late Allen R. Gray with whom she shared 72 years of a strong and good marriage. She taught physical Education and Health Sciences during WWII while her husband served for his country, and at various times throughout her life. They moved to State College after the war where Allen worked at Penn State in the Department of Physical Education until his retirement. Together they raised three children : Susan Phillips(Bill) from Ocean City, NJ, Rosemary Minchin(Ross) from Perth, Western Australia, and William Gray(Ann) from State College, Pa. and had five grandchildren: Jonathan, Shane and Sara Gray, and James( Paije) and Louise Minchin. Olga, was an optimistic and positive person to the end of her long life, and was interested in people and their stories. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, had a strong faith and loved her church, and persued many interest throughout her life. She believed in service to her fellow man, loved volunteer work at Centre County Hospital for over 25 years, was an active member of the Faculty Women's Club, enjoyed her tennis into her late 70's and then watching it on TV, always loved reading and learning new things, and had an appreciation for the beauty of central Pennsylvania and the beach. Olga was physically active, was a wonderful baker and cook, enjoyed decorating, had excellent taste and dressed beautifully. She was able to travel and enjoyed visits to her daughter Susan in Ocean City, New Jersey every year, and visit other daughter Rosemary in England and Australia. The last three years of her life Olga lived at Foxdale Village where she was very contented and looked after by the staff of Anthony House. She appreciated every act of kindness to the end. Her family are very grateful for all the love and care she received there. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Olga's life at Her Lady of Victory Church on Saturday , February 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM and a private internment after. Contributions in her memory may be given to the Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center, 1800 E. Park Avenue, State College, Pa. 16803.
