Robbie
I rejoice for Robbie who gets to join his beloved Ruthie- after painful years of separation- roaming around their, once, pleasure palace. Hard on the rest of us, though.
Robbie and I don’t get to “gulf” anymore in GHC. We live too far apart to do it in the States.
We hack at each other on politics, on occasion.
But most of our telephone and email banter surrounds betting- especially during big ten football.
he never went to Penn State, and I never attended OSU Buckeye U (other than as an Adjunct Professor at the OSU Law School.) But, we adopted them - and waged constant battle over their football and basketball. I would have won 5 bucks last night, as OSU lucked out over Penn St. BB- following the "Ruthie rule" of $5 and no odds.
We first met Ruth’n’Robbie in the beach villas. Life was rich, there- la la land, if you will. After our house moves, much of our sojourns were at the pool bar over Paul’s famous ribs. And "Gulf", of course.
Robbie was the putter-chipper. I moved from Sam’s drive it soft’n’safe so he could kill it- eventually to long ball- albeit 5 yards shorter every year.
Life moves on. Most of us are dead- or gone from our beloved GHC. And memories linger on.
we sure will miss you, Robbie. You were a Prince- albeit an ornery one. Still- a Prince.
