Dear Fay was a good friend during my graduate school years in HDFS at Penn State, 1986-1991. Her story of the difficulties of her early life, and the great love she had for Jack, were very moving for me. When Jack died I tried my best to be a good and caring friend for her, and I felt that deepened the friendship between us. I always enjoyed running into her at events around town in later years, and admired the interests and concerns she still maintained. I am very grateful to have known both her and Jack, and will long remember them.
