Obituary of Susan Bond Meyer

Susan Bond Meyer, 94, of State College, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at Juniper Village at Brookline. Born August 31, 1922, in Nescopeck, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Jennie Rupp Bond. On June 12, 1948, she married Don C. Meyer, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children: Steven M. Meyer and his wife Maria, James H. Meyer and his wife Melisa, and Beth A. Ferringer, all of State College; twelve grandchildren: Grant, Jason, Matthew, Jennifer, Rachel, Leslie, Hannah, Jessica, Tegan, Gemma, Coby, and Mariah; eleven great-grandchildren: Harley, Hayden, Tristan, Harrison, Pierce, Chloe, Kennady, Hayden, Clara, Logan, and Ashlyn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Bond, her sister Florence Zainer, and her grandson Jonathan Meyer. Susan was a graduate of Nescopeck High School and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Prior to her marriage to Don, Susan was employed at the Ritenour Health Center on the Penn State Campus and at the Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia. Susan was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, as well as the State College Quarterback Club, and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She also graciously volunteered her time at the Mount Nittany Hospital in State College. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 250 E. College Ave, State College, with the Reverend Becky McGee officiating. Entombment will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
