Obituary of Elenore M. Dixon
Elenore M. Dixon, of State College, died on Wednesday, April 12th at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA after a brief illness. She was born in Washington, DC to the late William F. Royal Sr. and Cecelia D. (Jenkins) Royal. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: William F. Royal Jr. and Robert James Royal.
On October 18, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, she married George P. Dixon who preceded her in death in February 2008. They moved with their six children to State College in 1964 and were longtime residents ever since.
Elenore completed her secondary education in Richmond, VA and completed her training as a registered nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. Later in life, she also worked as a phlebotomist for Sera Tech in State College, PA. Elenore loved spending time with her family. To keep in touch, she became proficient at Facebook and texting, learning to use a laptop, Ipad, and smart phone very late in life. She loved watching just about any sport and playing games, always wanting to win.
Elenore is survived by six children (spouses or companion), James P. (Rosalie Bailey) of Port Matilda, Dorothy (Mike Hnatnick) of State College, William J. (Susan) of State College, George F. (Derek Cordier) of Harrisburg, Susan Thompson(Gary, deceased) of Burlington Township, NJ, John (Cheryl Veach) of Greensburg; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Skills of Central PA Incorporated or Easter Seals of Central PA.
