Obituary of Donald J. Harris

Donald J. "Don" Harris, 65, of State College, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born February 8, 1952, in Floyd County, KY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Vina Mayo Harris. He is survived by partner Sally Grine of State College, PA, three daughters and one son, Dionne Boone and her husband, Lee, of Winchester, KY, Amanda Harris of Frankfort, KY, Megan Harris of State College, PA, and Jarrod Harris of Seattle, WA; two siblings, Robert "Bob" Harris and his wife, Shelley, of Crossville , TN and Virginia "Ginny" Schneider of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Meredith and Cooper Boone, Ruby Harris, and Carter Harris. Don was a 1970 graduate of Fairborn High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Wright State University in 1974. He was employed as a Financial Controller in the Automotive industry for many years, and was last employed at Driscoll Automotive Group in State College, PA. Don was a member of the Disciples of Christ Church in Lexington, KY and was an accomplished singer and choir leader. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, boating, fishing, and especially loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. A private Memorial Service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
