My thoughts and prayers are with you. Nancy is someone for whom I am very grateful for her passion and advocacy through the years that I've known her. I moved to State College in 1994 - and soon after realized that she was in all of the places of community that I cared about - and in that, I realized what a great generation I was stepping into following. I am grateful for Nancy's heart and passion and for the path that she's cultivated for many of us to follow.

I was sorry to see the news of your mother's death. I got to know her a little one summer
when she was in the hospital, and I was the substitute chaplain. We had some good conversations, and I enjoyed talking with her.

Dear Desmond Family Members,
Nancy was one of the first persons I met when I moved to State College in 1980. I worked for adult education in the evenings and she was always encouraging and definitely ahead of her time with adult education programs and services. Nancy was one of the first people I met upon moving to State College. Her advocacy for improving health care in the centre region was an inspiration to me and all of the health care providers in the area.
Roy was one of my beloved patients and the two of them soon became friends with Nancy and me.
She was a shining light for our community and will be dearly missed.
