Obituary of Helen O'Neill Cosgrove
Helen O’Neill Cosgrove, 97, of Bellefonte, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte, PA.
Born April 4, 1920 in Houtzdale, she was the daughter of the late James and Annie Westover Brady where she grew up surrounded by 5 siblings. She moved to Osceola Mills and then to State College when she married John “Jack” H. O’Neill on June 26, 1941. They enjoyed 40 years of married life together until he died on October 9, 1981. She later married John “Jack” Cosgrove on May 7, 1989 State College, and shared 22 years together until he died on September 20, 2011
She is survived by two children, Elizabeth Ann Wintermute, and her husband, Edwin of Arnold, MD, and John H. O’Neill, of State College; two siblings, John P. Brady and his wife, Emily of Pittsburgh, and Margaret Stodart of Houtzdale; five grandchildren: Catherine Hollerbach (Peter) of Annapolis, MD, Karen Keough (Le) of Austin, TX, and Shane O’Neill, Brian O’Neill and Brady O’Neill, all of State College, PA, and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two loving grandchildren, Jessica Gold (David) and Joachim Wintermute (Katie.)
Helen was a graduate of Houtzdale High School. She attended the Altoona School of Commerce.
Helen was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Centre Hills Country Club and the Nittany Country Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with the Reverend Jonathan Dickson officiating.
Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Osceola Mills.
