It is always sad to learn of a persons passing, but I have great memories that heighten the sadness!
John was one of my profs 1960 - 64, and also one of the greatest. My sympathy and condolences to the family.

Please accept our deepest condolences over the passing of John. As many know, he was a dynamic and engaged individual who did so much for so many. He epitomized doing the greater good for the Department of Animal Science, the Stockmen's Club, Penn State, the State College community and his treasured family. I (TE) distinctly remember meeting John the first time during my interview for a faculty position in what was then the Department of Dairy and Animal Science. This was in 1978 and the interaction occurred at the Meats Lab. He put me through the paces to "see what I was made of"! It was a memorable meeting that I have never forgotten.
We shall miss him so much. He was a valued colleague and friend who will be deeply missed by many. May wonderful memories of John and his legacy comfort you

Dear Ziegler family, thinking of all of you and keeping you in our prayers during this time of transition. Please know how immensely grateful I am to John for the years of environmental work that I've enjoyed in the Central PA community - in large part because he thought I was worth giving a chance as a ClearWater staffer when he first interviewed me back in 1994. Joel and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to you - as we remain grateful for having known John through the years. Know that you are in our thoughts.

A person could not have chosen a better brother-in-law if choosing were possible. Jack was a one of a kind person. He always had a story to tell and was a outstanding conversationalist. His willingness to help others was constant. Everyone who knew him realized his earnest involvement and willingness to give his time for items of interest and others.
Jack was a active husband and father to the three boys and Jane. Giving his time and energy, he and Jane enjoyed a long fulfilling marriage and partnership. Even to the end, Jack was always at the side of his Janie. He will be greatly missed. As a father, John achieved a high degree of involvement, guidance, fellowship and helpfulness. The boys each enjoyed youthful activities and developed many interests through his help and guidance. Later, he took a keen interest in each family as wives and grandchildren arrived.
The living often sum up the life of those who pass. I can honestly say that Jack met the expectations to say well done you good and faithful servant. Well done!
