Obituary of Filomena Pellicciotta
Filomena Pellicciotta, 96, of State College, died Friday, August 19, 2011, at the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born September 15, 1914 in Guardialfiera, Campobasso Province, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Teresa Caluori Palazzo. On Nov. 29, 1931, she married Luigi Pellicciotta, who died May 3, 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Zina Rhoades and her husband, Lou, of State College, and Ninetta Quaranta of Termoli, Italy; a son, Mario Pellicciotta and his wife, Anna, of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; her daughter-in-law, Lucia Pellicciotta of State College; a sister Maria Palazzo and two brothers, Natale Palazzo and Antonio Palazzo, all of Italy; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Luigi, she was predeceased by her son Pietro Pellicciotta on Jan. 24, 2011, great-granddaughter Sabrina on March 19, 2011, and grandson Gino on July 16, 1996.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Filomena was known to her friends as "mamma". She always welcomed family and friends with her cooking, which was her passion. She loved her whole family with all her heart. She was an exceptional woman and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 22, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Matthew Baum officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
