Many yrs passing since Bob has passed. I remember him vividly as a kid living in S.Bend from 1944-1954. I attended the Camp Eberhart YMCA camp in Three Rivers MI @ Corey Lk. Bob was our counselor there and recall that he was also ND student. I remember him as a great person and counselor for young kids with a lot of humor. I pulled this obituary up not expecting to see a thing but glad I did. This all took place circa 1954-56. Great camo, great memories and a great guy to kids.
I remember eating in this huge dining hall we all ate at and Bob trying to get me to eat my oatmeal I absolutely hated!! I like it now.
Go Domers, let’s win one for Bob!!

Bob was one of the Penn State greats. I spent two years in his CES office (84-86) then served as the CEO of PSU DE/Brandywine. To know him was to love him. He was a gracious leader and he extended the friendship to our family. We pray for him and his family and ask God to welcome him to his eternal home. RIP good friend and mentor

My condolences to the Scannell family on Bob's passing. His contributions to the world of education were profound and always to the benefit of students. His commitment to women's sports at PSU was large and important to their growth at the University. His leadership of the Commonwealth College system at Penn State was exemplary and his subsequent vision as President for the Community College system in Alameda county of California was instrumental in putting that system on a sound financial and educational footing.
I met Bob and Gina in 1961 as we both were leaving South Bend Indiana for Penn State and we shared a moving van. And away we went. I am sad that his journey has ended.
I have retired to Naples Florida and will be unable to attend the wake service.
Donald C Rung, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at PSU

My your family find comfort at this time. I will keep your family in my prayer. I have found that a scripture in Revelation 21:4-5 was encouraging to me when I lost my son. Thanks and again I will pray for you and your family.
