Dear Neil,
So sorry about the loss of your dad.
I loved him very much like so many others.
He was a great mentor and teacher and also a wonderful person . He was always positive and indeed gregarious but in a very giving and caring way.
I send my sincerest condolences to you and to your family.
I am sure he will be missed.
Both my mom Amira and my dad passed away this year nine months apart.
It is painful to know they are all Three gone from this earth. But somehow I know they are perhaps smiling at us.
All the Best to you All for a happy 2018 like Joe would want it to be.
Dalal

Dear Mary Jean, janice, Chistie, Ian and Stewart,
We send our love and condolences. We have Joe and his smile forever in our heart.
You were like family to us during our whole stay in State College and remain beloved forever.
I will never forget Joe’s cheerfulness, his caring attitude, his wisdom and his love for life, for his family and for his research at Penn State. Nor will I forget your generosity and his with the many meals and gatherings at your home.
As he is gone he leaves behind the same values and fun spirit with you All and I bet with your children and grandchildren.
Our love to you all
Dalal and GLENN

One of our Penn State Hockey Club Founders, former player and coach, and an Icer Hall of Fame member has gone to that “great hockey rink in the sky.” Joe was a brilliant PSU faculty member and such a gregarious gentleman. Our condolences to Mary Jean and Joe’s family. He will be missed.

Dear MacNeil family,
My daughter cared for Joe recently in her capacity as a CNA student. She grew quite fond of him in a couple of short months, and I always enjoyed her descriptions of her interactions with him (and she was VERY careful to maintain confidentiality by not using his name, even in conversations with me). By all accounts he was a very sweet and funny man. It's clear from his lovely obituary that Joe touched many, many lives and our world is a better place from his time on earth. I know you all are very blessed to have had him as a family member. I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope you find great comfort in your fondest memories of him.
God bless,
Grace
