John, It was a pleasure working with your dad for 8 years at the golf course. He was a good man and a boss that always treated us fairly. I overheard a conversation about the golf course one time and the quote was "John could grow grass on concrete if he had to" That summed it up.
In those 8 years I never knew about his military service. They were "THE GREATEST GENERATION "
My thoughts are with you.

"Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning. And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." (Isaiah 26:19) This prophecy tells us that one day we will see our dead loved ones again in a new world! Please seek Jehovah God to see his promises fulfilled.....

Hello,
I joined ther OT golf course in 1980 and got to know John quite well. He had the course in wonderful shape and did it without the benefit of an automated watering system. I remember him telling me how he worried about a fungus on the greens when he watered at night. John worked, he didn't just sit back and supervise.
I liked him a lot and I'm sorry for your loss.
Cordially,
Art Williams

John and Kathleen: we are so sorry for your loss. Your father, John, had a wonderful life. The story of his service during WWII is quite moving. His passion for nature, history, community service and family is a good model for us all.
