Obituary of Emily Piatt

Emily Carolyn Piatt, 90, of State College, formerly of Springfield, died Monday, August 29, 2011, at The Fairways at Brookline Village. Born June 23, 1921, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Manfred and Wilemina Unger Appelgren. On November 3, 1945, she married John E. Piatt Jr., who died January 18, 1991. She is survived by two children, John E. Piatt III, M.D., of State College, and Carol Piatt Gary, M.D. and her husband, Laurence, of Clifton, Va., and three grandchildren. Emily earned her Bachelor's Degree from Drexel University. She taught in public high schools in Philadelphia and Bucks County. Services are private, at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Memorial Shrine Park in Wyoming. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 3544 N.
